How to Treat Hormonal Breakouts During That Time Of The Month

We all have this issue and we all have to fight with this every month, or most of us. It's one of the most annoying things in existence and painful things. In all honesty, I wish we all didn't have to ever but it's a part of life. Although they are a part of being human it still feels awful from cramps and moodiness and all of the above and on top of all of that acne definitely does not make it any better. The only thing I know I want to do when this happens is stay in bed the full seven days and not move and eat chocolate and watch The Notebook and The Choice but in all honesty, we all got work to do.

So what exactly do you do to get rid of these pests that try to make that time of the month even worse than it already is? Is it impossible to get rid of them during that 7 days? The answer to the first question is, keep reading this post and the second is no it's not impossible and is totally easier than you think. If you want to know how then just keep reading.

1. Wash your face twice a day.

This may seem like a lot, or even too much in your book. Just stick with me here, okay? When you're about to start your cycle and when you're on it your hormones are everywhere so it's obviously 10x easier to see pimples come up everywhere compared to a normal regular day. Not only that but it seems like everything is increasing including oil or dryness in your face. Have you ever noticed that? So, you should wash your face twice a day, which you should already anyway because it's going to make sure you get all of that dirt and oil out of your skin so that way even when the hormones kick in there's no dirt or oil causing any extra issues.

2. Use spot treatment.

A ton of brands have some really great spot treatments and my by far favorite is the Eradi Kate acne treatment. Not only does this just fight current breakouts but it also fights future ones from occurring. This is great when you have bad hormonal breakouts because it really gets in there and fights it all off. The packaging is also really really cute and you can get this product at Ulta and Nordstrom or of course online. It's super helpful and really fights those nasty breakouts you don't wanna see ever again.

3. Moisturize.

This is something I can't stress enough. Even if you have oily skin this step is still really important. Moisturizing really helps your skin when it's dry but it also helps with oily skin because some days when you wash your face a ton, take a hot shower, etc. your skin will dry up a little and you can avoid that by applying a good moisturizer that really helps prevent dryness and flakiness. The moisturizer I love using is Renergie Lift Multi-Action Night Cream by Lancome. It's not too heavy but also not too light and gets the job completely done and leaves my skin leaving silky smooth and brand new again. Also, another one I love by Lancome but it's a bit on the pricier side but totally worth it is the ABSOLUE L’EXTRAIT CREAM ELIXIR it works freaking magic wonders and feels so good when and after I use it.

4. Water.

You can research this and look it up anywhere but water is your best friend any and everyday especially when it comes to skincare. If you drink enough water daily I guarantee your skin will clear up so well it's going to be like magic. Not only that but water is great for detoxing your body which is really good to do before, during, or after a cycle. It's really important that you drink enough and stay hydrated. Your skin, body, and mind will thank you so much for it after a little while.

Those were all of my tips on how to treat hormonal breakouts during your monthly! Hopefully, this post was super informative and helpful to you all and check back soon for more great beauty and skincare tips! :)

Thank you for all the love and support! xoxoxo -Dawn

  1. So many useful tips! Thanks for sharing your beauty routine! I would also definitely recommend using an oil free moisturizer anytime you wet your face. Water dries out your skin, which makes your it produce more oils, leading to breakouts. What brand of makeup do you use?

    1. I love to use Covergirl foundations but I also use from time-to-time Maybelline FitMe liquid foundation. Those two are my favorite! Will definitely be using your tip as well for moisturizer because I have noticed my skin is a lot more dry lately. Thank you so much for helping! :)
